Welcome to the Crooked Billet
Formerly The Akeman Inn, we have closed our doors for a few weeks while we begin an exciting new chapter.
We have recently become part of Acorn Pubs, a collection of characterful pubs and inns across the Home Counties, operated by Brunning & Price. This gives us the opportunity to give our beautiful pub some well-deserved love, with a sensitively refreshed interior, updated food and drinks offering and a brand-new name. When we reopen in early November, we’ll be welcoming you back as the Crooked Billet, a new identity inspired by the original name of the pub.
We can't wait to share what we have planned and for you to come and take a look when we reopen. Rest assured, the character of the pub we all love will remain and our wonderful team will be back, ready to welcome you.

Acorn Pubs
Acorn pubs are a collection of 9 pubs, 5 of which offer bedrooms, which sit primarily in the home counties. We could be described as ‘modern pubs’, with an extensive range of draft beers, wines and cocktails with a great menu of freshly cooked Mediterranean-inspired food, which centres around our wood-fired ovens and charcoal grills, using traditional cooking techniques and sustainably sourced produce.
Our buildings range from modern to historic, all rejuvenated into contemporary spaces that fit the needs of the communities they serve.
Whether our customers are catching up with friends over drinks, treating the family to Sunday roast in our restaurant, or escaping for a couple of nights to one of our hotels, we pride ourselves on offering the perfect, quality environment to suit, and warm, friendly hospitality.
