Children and Minors

The Crooked Billet is a family-friendly pub, but we do ask that children are closely supervised at all times. Families are most welcome in areas away from the bar. We have baby changing facilities, and if you’d like a highchair, please request one when you book. During the evenings our pub is primarily an adult environment. We’re particularly popular for family Sunday lunches, so booking is advised.

Prams and Pushchairs

Due to the layout of our dining areas, please let us know if you have a pram or pushchair when you make a reservation so we can try to accommodate you.

Dogs

Dogs of the ‘well behaved and on the lead’ variety are most welcome in our garden, bar and lounge areas, where we serve our full daily menu. We unfortunately cannot accommodate dogs in our dining room. If you’re booking online and bringing a dog, please add a note in the special request box letting us know you’d like a dog-friendly table.

Service and Bookings

For us, life revolves around the bar, so that’s where to head for drinks, and for menus if you’re eating in the bar area.

For dining or drinks inside the pub, you have the choice of our lounge and bar area or dining room when booking. We always try to hold a few tables back for drinks and customers not able to book in advance.

During the warmer months, our gardens at the back of the pub are a lovely spot for al fresco dining and drinks in the sun. Our covered and heated stretch tent on the terrace offers shade on hot days and shelter from showers. Outside tables are not reservable and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking, public transport and taxis

We sit on the A41 between Aylesbury and Bicester, on the line of Akeman Street, the old Roman road that kept this place busy back in its coaching inn days. The stagecoaches have long gone, but there’s plenty of free parking on site, so there’s no need to hunt for a space. If you’re planning to leave your car with us overnight, please let us know, as the car park is locked when we close.

If you’re coming by bus, Red Rose Travel’s 16 and 17 services stop nearby at Kingswood Crossroads on the A41, linking us with Aylesbury and Bicester. Buses run Monday to Saturday during the day only, so check redrosetravel.com for your journey home before settling in for another round.

If you’re leaving the car at home, Falcon Taxis (01296 437649) and Village Cars (01296 651048) both cover Kingswood. It’s worth booking ahead, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings.
