Here is little potted history of our pub and the local area... if you have a spare minute or two and maybe a cup of tea (or is that a G&T), we think it's well worth read.
As our crew come on board, well be adding them here so you can get to know some faces...
Manager
Formerly a Roving Manager for Acorn Pubs, Nathen is parking his wheelie suitcase in Kingswood to take up permanent residence here as the new Manager. A lover of all things food, from fish and chips to governor tacos and his favourite, coffee ice cream, he eats like he's a man on a mission. He’s also partial to a Lagavulin and a spot of fishing, snorkelling and museum musing.
Deputy Manager
Daniel has been part of the crew at the Crooked Billet for the last five years and, at this point, he’s basically part of the furniture! As Deputy Manager, he’s a familiar face to crew and regulars alike, always helping to keep things running smoothly. Outside of work, Daniel loves spending time with his dog, Luna, and enjoying a nice cold pint of Modelo. Reliable, welcoming and always up for a chat, he brings a loyal, friendly energy to the pub every day and is a huge part of what makes the Crooked Billet feel like home.
Deputy Manager
Pete joined the crew this autumn, bringing a vast amount of hospitality experience along with 20 years’ worth of drumming and 10 years of landscape photography; he’s a man of many talents. He’s also our in-house quizmaster and a pizza fanatic. His favourite pizza? The one he shared with Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin.
Scarlett has been part of the crew for the last four years, working her way up from waitress to Assistant Manager. Always welcoming everyone with a smile, she’s known for her warm personality and great customer service. When she’s not at work, you’ll usually find her around horses or enjoying a Hugo Spritz. Scarlett’s love for looking after people makes her a big part of the pub, and we’d be lost without her.
Assistant Manager
Ekaterina is our Assistant Manager and comes from a background in the aviation industry. When she’s not at the pub, she has her hands full with her two furry troublemakers, Margot the cat and Basenji the dog. She also loves travelling the world with her husband and insists her passport may be full, but it’s always ready for its next adventure. When you see Ekaterina, make sure to say hello.
Supervisor
Liv, our half-Belgian Supervisor, has spent three seasons on the ski slopes of the Alps and a couple more in the Greek sunshine, but has finally decided there’s no place like home and headed back to Buckinghamshire. In her spare time, you might find her helping her mum out at the family B&B, on the right side of the bar with a vodka with lime and soda, or on the next flight to Marbella. Do say hi next time you’re in.

Ben is a real team player, and you’ll find him helping out all over the pub. Outside of work, he’s either following MK Dons up and down the country or exploring the great outdoors; he’s even climbed Scafell Pike, the highest point in England. Whether you catch him behind the bar or up a mountain, be sure to say hello.

Joining us after our refurb you'll find Harrison darting about the pub ready to lend a hand. If he's not looking after you from behind the bar or on the floor, you'll probably find him chasing a shuttlecock around a badminton court. When he's not playing badminton he enjoys down time at home in front of the TV with his cat, Simba.

Whether she’s serving tables or pouring pints, Emily is a key member of the crew. When she hangs up her apron, she loves nothing more than spending time with her daughter and looking after her five horses. Cantering round a field or floating around the pub, Emily does it all with a smile from ear to ear.

Olly was born and raised in the south-west of England but has since become as local as they come. He’s worked in hospitality since he was 14 and has an obsession with calamari and Liverpool Football Club. He also fancies himself as a part-time DJ.

Holly is a popular and gregarious member of the crew. When she’s not at work, she’ll either be playing her trumpet and singing her heart out or relaxing at home with her two cats. She’s also well travelled, and her favourite trip so far was the three weeks she spent exploring Costa Rica with World Challenge.
Supervisor
Nessa is one of our supervisors, and you’ll find her gliding round the pub, always ready to lend a hand. She loves nothing better than putting a smile on customers’ faces and was born for hospitality. She keeps spirits high amongst the crew with her humour and bubbly personality. Outside of work, you might catch her cantering around the local area on her horse or joining you for a drink on the right side of the bar.
Front of House
Grant is one of the friendly faces in our front of house crew and always makes customers feel welcome. Outside of work, he’s into football and boxing, and he’s also a keen carpenter who enjoys getting hands-on with DIY.

With her lively personality, you can’t miss Ellie! When she’s not at work, you might catch her at Bicester Village enjoying her favourite hobby: shopping. If she could be anywhere in the world, it would be the Dominican Republic (and who can blame her?). At work, she’s always on hand with recommendations, and on the food front, she says look no further than our Chicken Milanese.

You’d struggle to meet anyone as bubbly and friendly as Scar. You’ll spot her by her great service or, more likely, her infectious laugh. She’s our go-to for all things flowers; she wants to be a florist one day, and if there’s something she doesn’t know about tulips, it’s probably not worth knowing.
Front of House
Mia is part of our front of house crew and is always welcoming customers with a smile. Hardworking, friendly and full of positive energy, she helps create a warm, relaxed atmosphere. With her cheerful personality, Mia is always good to see around the pub.
Front of House
Ruth is a hardworking member of the crew who always brings a smile with her. Friendly and positive, she comes into every shift ready to go and helps create a welcoming atmosphere. When she’s not working, Ruth spends her time with her two horses, two children, her dog and, depending on the day, a glass of vino or a mug of tea.
Junior Sous
Magda is our Junior Sous Chef and brings so much passion and hard work to the kitchen every day. Calm under pressure and always ready to help the crew, she’s someone everyone can rely on during busy services. Magda takes real pride in the food she creates and always gives 100% in everything she does. With her friendly nature and dedication, she’s a big part of what makes our kitchen tick.
Commis Chef
Maria is our Commis Chef and is always working hard behind the scenes in the kitchen. Friendly, smiley and never afraid to get stuck in, she’s quickly become a valued part of the crew. Whether it’s prep or service, Maria brings a great attitude to every shift and helps keep things moving.
Kitchen Assistant
Nanni is always smiling and brings a lovely energy to the crew every day. She’s hardworking and eager to learn, and has really grown in the kitchen, now making pizzas and baking some very good desserts too. Always happy to get stuck in and help out wherever needed, Nanni is a much-loved part of the crew thanks to her positive attitude and friendly personality.
